Waterford man accused of stealing 15,000 social security numbers | Crime

The Social Security numbers of nearly 15,000 New Yorkers have been stolen and State Police say they have caught the person responsible.

Evan Kane of Waterford has been charged with forgery, identity theft, and falsifying business records.

Kane worked on the state’s computer system.

The numbers were stolen from the Office for Temporary Disability Assistance during a computer upgrade.
