Cohoes Night out
Cohoes' National Night Out has grown dramatically since its inception participating with more than 10,000 other communities throughout the United States and its territories, military bases and communities in Canada, involving over 34 million people. On Tuesday, August 7 Cohoes will celebrate National Night Out throughout the community at various locations.
National Night Out, a year-long community building campaign, is designed to: (1) Heighten crime, drug and violence prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
"National Night Out is a great opportunity to showcase the great work our neighborhood watch groups accomplish day in and day out. Neighborhood Watch, working closely with the Cohoes Police Department, has played a crucial role in reducing crime in our community. In this day and age when financial resources are being sent to larger communities, the efforts of Neighborhood Watch Groups are appreciated even more as we need all to be involved in keeping Cohoes a safe community," said Mayor John T. McDonald III.
Following are the locations and times for Tuesday evening August 7th:
GEORGE STREET PARK: 4:30 P.M. – 8:30 P.M.
