Infromation meeting about Fox Hollow

TROY - On Saturday, September 15, the Capital District Habitat for Humanity will be hoting an informational session for those interested in purchasing the new Fox Hollow homes.

The meeting will be held at Bush Memorial Hall at Russel Sage College.

Registration is at 9:30a.m.

Tugboat Roundup chugs into Waterford

WATERFORD – Tugboats on parade. The tugs left the Port of Albany Friday afternoon headed to Waterford.

That is where they will be on display all weekend as part of the Waterford Tugboat Roundup.

There will also be arts and crafts, music and games, food and fireworks. Admission is free.

Volunteer of the week named

Mohawk Fine Papers has been chosen as this weeks Volunteer of the Week. Mohawk Fine Papers has adopted the Dyke Ave West Traffic Island and has helped in maintaining the area and planting new flowers.

Each week the City has been highlighting volunteers who have adopted parks throughout the City as part of the City’s Beautification Program. We appreciate the efforts of Mohawk Fine Papers and their commitment to the community as well as the efforts of all our volunteers who have and continue to give back.

5th Annual Doug Ellett 5k

COHOES - On Sunday, September 16, the 5th Annual Doug Ellett Memorial 5k will be held at the Cohoes High School.

Kids races will begin at 8:30a.m. The official opening ceremony begins at 9a.m.

COHOES - Hudson River Community Credit Union has been chosen as this weeks Volunteer of the Week. The credit union has adopted the Dyke Ave East Traffic Island and has helped in maintaining the area and planting new flowers.

Loudonville walk to fight against blood cancers

Loudonville walk to fight against blood cancers

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society-Light the Night Walk will be held on Saturday Sept. 9. This walk will be held to aid in the battle against blood cancers.

The walk will be held at Siena College in Loudonville and begins at 5:30 p.m.

Polish Night at Farmers Market

On Friday, August 10 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the Cohoes Farmers’ Market will be sponsoring a Polish Night with entertainment by local band favorite Donnie P and the Celebration. Bring your dancing shoes and your appetite.

In addition to great ethnic music, there will be plenty of Polish delicacies to purchase such as potato pancakes, homemade pierogies (dumplings) and golumpkis (cabbage rolls). To finish your meal, Make-A-Wish will by serving ice cream cones (for a small donation) as a fundraiser to assist with the care of a young resident in Cohoes currently struggling with cancer.
