Free concert in Albany on Father's Day

The City of Albany will present their 11th annual free Father’s Day Concert this year.

The concert goes from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Albany Riverfront Park, on Father’s Day.

It will include performances from two military ensembles: The USO Liberty Bells, and the 94th Army Band.

Car seat safety check in Colonie: June 14th

COLONIE – Albany County will hold its annual Child Safety Seat on Friday, June 14th.

The free event will be in the Garden Center parking lot of Sears in Colonie Center from 11am-2pm.

Last year, 103 seats were checked. Only two were installed properly.

Community Joins Together to Fight Cancer

LATHAM –  The community will join together to fight cancer at Relay for Life at HopeClub this Thursday . Following is more information:

Volunteers and cancer survivors will spend Thursday evening working to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays at the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.

The event begins at 5:00 p.m. and continues until 10:00 p.m.

Proceeds go to support the American Cancer Society’s mission of helping people stay well, get well, find cures and fight back.

Troy prepares for annual River Street Festival on June 15th

TROY – The City of Troy is getting ready for its annual River Street Festival on June 15th.

The festival includes around 100 crafts vendors from the Northeast, along with Troy’s unique shops and cafés.

There are also three stages of live music, along with a separate stage just for kids.

The festival runs from 10:00am-5:00pm on River Street, from Fulton to Congress Streets.

Motorists urged to be alert for Americade bikers

LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (AP) - The Americade motorcycle rally at Lake George starts this weekend and motorists are being cautioned to be alert for bikers on the Thruway and the Northway.
    
Americade will run for a week starting Saturday and is billed as the world's largest touring rally. It draws about 50,000 people to the southeast Adirondacks, many of them using I-87 in the days leading up to events.
    
Riders also tour scenic Adirondacks roads and accidents are reported each year, some of them serious.
    
The Thruway Authority has safety warnings running on electronic message boards urging drivers to be alert for motorcycles.

Memorial Day parade planned in Cohoes

The annual Memorial Day parade will be held tonight in Cohoes.

 

The City of Cohoes and the Cohoes American Legion will hold the annual Memorial Day Parade on Thursday, May 23.  The parade will begin formulating at 6:30 p.m. at West End Park, with step off scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The parade route will move east along Columbia Street and then north along Remsen Street toCanal Square and finish at the review stand.

Colonie Historical Society holds 42nd Annual Dinner Meeting and Presentation

 

LOUDONVILLE – The Historical Society of the Town of Colonie will hold their 42nd Annual Dinner Meeting on May 15.

The event will include a special presentation by Michael P. Barrett called “Troy in the Civil War.”

The reception is at 5:30pm with dinner at 6:30pm. at the Shaker Ridge Country Club in Loudonville. 

The cost is $35.00 for singles; $60.00 for couples and reservations are due by May 8.
