Tug of War Fundraiser to be held

Tug of War Fundraiser to be held

On Saturday, August 8, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., The Knights of Columbus and the Malta Veterans Committee will be hosting a Tug of War Fundraiser to raise money for the Adaptive Sports Program for New York State disabled veterans at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany.

Teams of 15 members will be in a tug of war battle against an 18 wheeler truck at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway.  They will compete to see who can tug the truck 50 feet in the shortest amount of time, with trophies awarded to the top three teams with the best times.

Alliance for Women in Media to host Kenneth Adams

On Wednesday, August 8, at 8 a.m., The NYS Capital District Chapter, Alliance for Women in Media, will be hosting a breakfast discussion with Kenneth Adams, President and CEO/Commissioner of the New York State Department of Economic Development.

The breakfast event will be hosted at The Century House in Latham.

The event costs $15 for members and $18 for non-members.

Congressman Tonko to host town hall meeting

Congressman Tonko to host town hall meeting

On Monday, July 30, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Hackett Middle School, Congressman Paul Tonko will host a town hall meeting.

He will be giving brief opening remarks and then he will take questions, comments and concerns from the public on federal issues.

Anybody is free to attend.

Albany City Hall to display Giants' Super Bowl Trophy

On Thursday, August 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the Albany City Hall Rotunda will be displaying the Vince Lombardi Trophy, awarded to the New York Giants, and both of their Super Bowl Championship Rings.

 Fans are encouraged to visit this exhibit and personal photographs are allowed.

Albany Dutchmen to host fundraiser night

On Sunday, July 29, at 5:05 p.m., The Albany Dutchmen will be hosting a fundraising night for the Muscular Dystrophy Association during their game against Glens Falls.

The fundraiser will include a raffle where participants can win a 42 inch flat screen TV and other prizes.

PrimaLoft®, which is based in Menands, is hosting a new Facebook contest called Your Greatest Adventure Sweepstakes.

The contest will award one winner a choice of one of three U.S. adventures and a gear prize pack powered by PrimaLoft®

The winner will be able to select one of the following prizes:

  • Backpacking on the Appalachian Trail (100-Mile Wilderness, ME)
  • An ice climbing experience in Ouray, CO
  • A ski getaway in Jackson Hole, WY

Individuals can enter the sweepstakes by sharing their greatest adventure with a photo and caption on the PrimaLoft® Facebook page.

The contest will run through Wednesday, October 10, when the ten entrants with the most votes will be named contest finalists.

Cohoes Music Hall to host Guys & Dolls

From Thursday, August 2 to Sunday, August 12, the Cohoes Music Hall will be hosting Guys &

Dolls, which follows the misadventures of Nathan Detroit to find $1,000.

Performances will be on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m.
